Embracing the Ave Cor: A Modern Spiritual Journey

Swirling blue and gold light streams forming a glowing heart shape on a dark background
A rendering of the traditional Ave Cor using contemporary, ecological and spiritual sensitivity, integrating interconnection, divine indwelling and love expressed in modern, inclusive and creation-centered language. The focus is on mutuality, trust, and inner transformation.

Hail, Heart of Love,
Heart of stillness and radiant fire,
Heart gentle and grounded,
Heart open and unguarded—
We honor you.

Heart poured out in compassion,
Heart where Wisdom dwells and listens,
Heart patient in suffering,
steadfast in presence,
attentive to all that is.
We greet you.

Heart pulsing with mercy,
alive with the rhythm of Earth,
tender with the cries of the world,
Heart of Jesus and Mary,
of all who live in love—
we turn to you in awe.

We adore you in the quiet places,
We praise you in the wind and the flame,
We give thanks for your breath in all life.
We love you with all our being.

We offer you our heart,
quiet as dawn,
open as sky.

We give it to you
each beat,
each longing,
each silence.

We set it apart,
a dwelling for your light,
a flame for your love.

We pour it out in trust,
a gift without condition,
a surrender without fear.

Receive this heart,
Hold it gently – yet wholly,
Touch what is wounded,
Enlighten what is dim
burn gently and brightly within it,
make it wholly yours.

Dwell in us –
live and breathe and move through us,
Be the stillness and the song.
Through whom we become vessels of your
compassion, channels of peace,
and seeds of justice for all creation.
Now, and forever, Amen.

St John Eudes, Apostle of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary, pray for us.

St John Eudes, our spiritual ancestor and inspiration, pray for us.

St John Eudes, share with us your fervent love for the healing and becoming of life in Christ.

  2. The verse you quoted and the two following ones

    We offer you our heart,
    quiet as dawn,
    open as sky.

    We give it to you
    each beat,
    each longing,
    each silence.

    We set it apart,
    a dwelling for your light,
    a flame for your love.

rephrase – the traditional language of the Ave Cor

“We offer you our heart, We give it to you, we consecrate it to you , We immolate it to you,”

    Thanks Theresa!
